Life starts somewhere.
Why is art so important? Why have I decided dedicate my time and money to opening an art gallery? Because I believe that art is fading from some aspects of life, and consequently people are losing out on an important part of their culture and education. Art widens an individual’s perspective on life, and helps one to see what is not at first apparent: shapes, lines, shadows, expressions, and colors. It shows the hidden symbolism, deviations from reality, details, emotions, and complex situations.
I believe in helping people to see not just look. If a person can learn to see art, they can bring that appreciation of life and beauty into their own routine. The landscape or cityscape that you drive by transforms in to color, angles and light. The decrepit blue house with the dented-in mailbox becomes a meaningful photo that tells about someone’s life. I believe that art helps us fuel the imagination and learn the empathy that is needed to have a successful community. Who would not mind leading a richer life full of Morandi’s still lifes, Vermeer’s light, Cezanne’s color and Georgia O’Keeffe’s shapes?
This is what I hope to achieve in opening Teal Art Gallery. I hope that these elements will shed an artistic light, and help people find beauty in everyday life.
