Scavenger Hunt

When I lived in England, community was a reality that every one (even petulant teenagers) had to be an active member of.  People had to bring food to the church bake sale.  The town would have a potluck to raise money for veterans.  Even small children would be expected to cheer on the local cricket team.

I was not sure that I would ever again find people so dedicated to the local rotary or youth sports until I moved here to Summit County.  I think that the local tendency for outdoor activities and partying play a big part in the successful community life.   The general eagerness to go out and visit with old and new friends is inspiring.  Yes, as I say this the numerous lovable mountain grinches that I know fill my head full of skepticism.  Still, I want to add to the sense of community.

This month Teal Art Gallery is hosting a Scavenger Hunt,  Originally, this was inspired when I found out that many of the “locals” rarely made it into downtown Breckenridge at all.  The scavenger hunt makes for a pleasant way for people to come enjoy the town without the crowds. It will be a nice Sunday afternoon activity with refreshments and prizes.  There will be a special ‘little hunters’ route that will be short and also an adult route that will be full of challenges.  Prizes will be awarded at the finish.

This is an opportunity to step out, have some fun and appreciate Breckenridge as the tourists do, excited to find things for the first time.
