Two wonderful and very different artists are going to be showing with a joint opening here at the Teal Art Gallery.
Mona Fraiman, a jazz musician and painter, will be presenting her textural and colorful artwork with all the Argentinean flair it deserves.
Paul F. Morris, a sculptural ceramicist, completes the show with the organic yet structural, brightly colored, highly textured sculptures.
August 7th Opening Party at 5:00 pm. Food and entertainment will be abundant!
Mona Fraiman is a charismatic Argentinean singer and painter who will be gracing the Teal Art Gallery with her vocal and painting talents. Mona embodies a cubist style with her personal additions of texture. Her pieces range from New Orleans Jazz Fest memories to still-lifes at home. Come meet her and learn about her art.
Paul Morris is one of the foremost sculptural ceramicists and has been featured in industry related magazines. You can see why! His structure is something most ceramicists would die for and his glazes are out of this world. His finishes range from planned almost tribal accuracy to spontaneous dripping.
Definitely a show you will not want to miss. The show runs from August 7th through September 6th.

This January, Teal Art Gallery is featuring its fine art collection that has developed and been refined over the last year. That is not all. The events at Teal Art Gallery this January are more interesting and diverse than ever.
First Colin Thurmond, with a Masters in Classical Guitar from the University of Denver and an aspiring PhD candidate, will be playing two concerts here at the gallery (Jan. 8th at 8:00 pm, Jan. 9th at 7:30 pm). It is an honor to host an artist that is so accomplished in his field. His music ranges from his own contemporary compositions to the classics of the guitar greats such as Brouwer, Berkeley, Legnani and Turina.
Join Teal Art Gallery for an evening of beautiful and interesting guitar.
Secondly, on January 16th at 6:00 pm, Teal Art Gallery will be hosting its first Fashion Show! Sky Sadler (a private designer), Goods Boutique, Valleygirl Boutique, and Big City Blues will all have the latest in women’s fashion. Fabulous food and wine will be served and additional entertainment will include dancing and commentary by MC Jeffrey Bergeron from our very own Summit Sunrise.
This will be a really fun event that will raise money for the Breckenridge Arts District. I hope that everyone decides to come and support art! The Breckenridge Arts District is a place for everyone of any level or interest in art to go participate and have fun. The workshops vary from ceramics to watercolor to printmaking and are taught by great artists from all over the country.

Colin Thurmond plays on Friday, Jan. 8th at 8:00pm and Saturday, Jan. 9th at 7:30pm.
The concerts are free.

Here I am, sitting at Teal Art Gallery a year later. I am excited to have made it this far. One year is the landmark for many different things in different cultures. For example, in Hawaii, women traditionally don’t name their children until they are one year old because of the historical infant mortality rate. One year old horses begin training for the races. One year is society’s traditional benchmark for anything that is meant to last for more than a year: relationships, jobs, lives.
Teal Art Gallery is one year old. I struggled through this year just like virtually everyone I know, but if you are reading this, you made it. I will be hosting my ‘One’ year anniversary not just as a celebration for myself, but for everyone who persevered, and is still here. Congratulations for not giving up! It’s not failure until you stop trying.
One thing that has been truly amazing this year is the demonstration of community here in Summit County. This year, I feel that with hardship, businesses, groups, friends and family have breached barriers, and have worked together more than ever. SIBA (Summit Independence Business Alliance), the Breckenridge and Summit Chambers, Second Saturdays and the Friends of the Breckenridge Arts District have all brought people together to help each other and themselves. I am truly impressed, and this warm-fuzzy cooperation is exactly how I think one should feel around the holiday season.
The ‘one’ themed art show is a good time to rethink what one really means. Is it a time to refocus on what makes us happy, or time to focus on our efforts of making our community a whole? Either way, each of us, as individuals, have to celebrate our lives as we have made them. I think that doing this at the ‘One’ party might just be the way to do it.
Come celebrate December 12th from 6-9 pm, at the Teal Art Gallery.
Happy Anniversary!

When I lived in England, community was a reality that every one (even petulant teenagers) had to be an active member of. People had to bring food to the church bake sale. The town would have a potluck to raise money for veterans. Even small children would be expected to cheer on the local cricket team.
I was not sure that I would ever again find people so dedicated to the local rotary or youth sports until I moved here to Summit County. I think that the local tendency for outdoor activities and partying play a big part in the successful community life. The general eagerness to go out and visit with old and new friends is inspiring. Yes, as I say this the numerous lovable mountain grinches that I know fill my head full of skepticism. Still, I want to add to the sense of community.
This month Teal Art Gallery is hosting a Scavenger Hunt, Originally, this was inspired when I found out that many of the “locals” rarely made it into downtown Breckenridge at all. The scavenger hunt makes for a pleasant way for people to come enjoy the town without the crowds. It will be a nice Sunday afternoon activity with refreshments and prizes. There will be a special ‘little hunters’ route that will be short and also an adult route that will be full of challenges. Prizes will be awarded at the finish.
This is an opportunity to step out, have some fun and appreciate Breckenridge as the tourists do, excited to find things for the first time.

- In England, there are different themed parties than are customarily held in the US. One such party is the Jelly Party. This is named not for the fruit preserve, but for Jello. The English call Jello: jelly in the same way they call Kleenex: tissue This is also how one refers to fruity, gummy candy, like gummy bears and worms.
How does this relate to you? You must dress color coded like a flavor! Here are the flavors:
- Yellow: On the rebound (You are sour and a little bitter, just got out of a relationship and are on the rebound)
- Red: Taken (Stop! You can look, but don’t touch. I’m with someone.)
- Pink: Desperate (I need some one so badly that I wore pink)
- Green: Single (Green means go. But not so quickly that I wore pink)
- Orange: Looking for friendship or a little spice in your life.
- Black: Not interested in anyone. Void of color, I am here for the Jelly.
This will be a fun, light-hearted party, and will bring new meaning to “flavor of the week.” At something like this, it would be really nice if people decided to go out, talk to and meet new people. That is the purpose. Maybe the color coding will just be a good conversation starter.
I am trying to make Teal Art Gallery a place where people can meet and enjoy good conversation. Teal should be a social as well as cultural venue. It will be good to see you there.
See the calendar for more information on the party.
