Scott Stegall
It was very nice of you to call all the way to Breckenridge to look at art work. I have assembled several pieces that you may like. I tried to pick a variety. There are also two artists that I think you may like, but they are distinctly more modern. However, if you are interested in seeing their work, I would be happy to update this page. (I am sorry they are not yet on the website)
1- The first pieces I just wanted to talk a little more about. These are photos by Jeff Struthers’ on the website and are framed with museum glass. I have many different amazing photos. They are quite large and range from 29″x54″ (for “Pines in Fog) to 29″x 41″ (for all of the pieces on the web site). Jeff Struthers offers a lifetime warranty on the prints and will replace them for free should they ever fade or get ruined. I have included a photo of Pines in Fog. If you decide that you would like to see more of his work I can send you more images. These pieces, framed, are all around $1,200.00.
2- The first piece in the gallery below is Rebecca Cuming’s piece. She is a truly amazing painter and is also represented by the Allen Stone Gallery in NYC. This painting is a very peaceful painting but never seems to get too still. It is called “Hummingbird”, and I have included a detail of the flowers and hummingbird. Cuming specializes in subtle layering of color which gives the paintings unusual depth and richness. It is 48″x48″ inches square She also includes a modern style that is brought to traditional impressionist style by her details. I think that if you enjoy French Impressionism, you would really enjoy this piece. It’s sale price is $6,900.00.
3- This may be a far cry from something you might like (‘Aspens’) . However, it is a truly unique piece that is bright and extremely lively. It is a very large piece at 50″x74″ inches. The artist is Deanne Moulton and is an up and coming artist. She makes each one of the ‘umbrellas’, ties them onto posts and arranges them. This piece is called “Aspens.” The theory comes from the idea that in nature, beauty is achieved by one shape repeating over and over (like leaves on a tree) trans poses the umbrella shape for the leaves and gets this result. I have also included a side angle because of its depth. It is $3,500.00.
4- “Simply Divine” is another unique piece that uses a painting technique that is more like sculpting than anything else. Renea Menzies works her pieces while they are laying flat. She gets huge amounts of pure oil paint and mixes the proper colors and puts them onto the canvas. Then as the paint dries (over the period of more than a year) she carves the shapes out with a palette knife. Many people ask if the paint will fall off, and no it won’t. This is a
nother painting that I have included in the side angle because it has nearly two inches of paint in one area. This piece is 48″x60″ and is $9,700.00 dollars.
5- Finally, a piece that I painted myself, Rose from the Wood. It is painted with acrylic, but used more as a watercolor wash. The base is a 46″x36″ piece of plywood that has been stained. You can see the grain of the wood through the rose which creates an interesting effect. The holes in the plywood are going to be filled with bolts which will give it an interesting character. I included this piece because you seemed to be interested in the realistic and nostalgic, which with the bolts becomes almost antique and hand-manufactured feeling, and have the bright colors. Its sale price is $1,300.
Again, I appreciate your interest. Should you have any questions about the pieces, more on how it is made or its meaning, please don’t hesitate to email me at stephanie@tealartgallery.com or call my cell phone (505) 490-7700. (hint) click on the image two times to see it larger.
